On June 19, 2009 the in Almaty, the finals of SimulTrain® tournament on project management for managers from Russian and CIS were held in Almaty and Moscow.

The tournament organizers are STS-VostoK (a Russian representative of STS SA, REP PMI, Switzerland), Moscow International High School of Business MIRBIS (Russia) and the University of International Business (UIB) (Kazakhstan), as well as Corporate Culture magazine (Russia).

The tournament consisted of two stages, online and offline, and allowed managers to check their professional level, get additional expertise and skills, as well as motivated them to develop further. During the first stage, participants could check their knowledge and skills through tests on project management, and the finals were in the form a computer business game in SimulTrain® software.

2009 is the first year of the tournament in both Russia and CIS. In Almati, the final stage gathered 5 teams of 4 people each. The participants were from all parts of Kazakhstan: Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Atyrau, Uralsk etc.

Kamilla's team included two managers from AirAstana and one from Coca Cola. The task was to develop a Web shop and to manage the project in SimulTrain. The project lasted 6 weeks.

'It was really interesting to work in simulation software', Kamilla told us. 'Everything was very close to the reality. Regular letters from employees and clients, phone calls, force-majeure (flu epidemic, hardware failures).'

The project success was judged based on the following key factors: time, quality, costs and motivation. Kamilla's team managed to achieve 100% while increasing time only by 1 day and minimum budget deficit which translated into leaving all other teams behind and securing premiere place.

Congratulations!

The winner's certificates are attached.
