Background
Palex Languages & Software is one of the leading Russian LSPs, headquartered in Tomsk, Russia. It was founded in 2002 by a team comprised of an engineer, a translator and a software localizer.
They had all been working as freelancers, but they recognized
the potential for collaboration and decided to bring together their
experience and professional backgrounds to provide their clients
with quality services.
The main goal was to create an RLV (Regional Language Vendor)
with strong QA process and professional level of project management
that specializes in Russian and other languages
of the former U.S.S.R. Translating
Kazakh, Georgian, Ukrainian et al requires special care
and expertise. Even Russian translations can be complicated by
unexpected problems. Terminology in these languages is developing
and changing, and it can be difficult to find qualified translation
resources in these markets.
We have been constantly improving our workflow, training our
team and doing our best to provide our customers with quality,
cost-effective services. That was recognized by most of our clients
and Palex has experienced a steady growth since its foundation.
In 2002, Palex signed an agreement with Digital Printing
Division of Samsung Electronics to become its main vendor in
localization of software and documentation for Samsung
printers.
By 2004, Palex had quadrupled in size, with five times the
number of clients and a ten-fold increase in turnover. From that
time Palex started to expand the number of supported languages,
growing from small RLV to a mid-sized MLV (Multi-Language
Vendor).
In 2008, recognizing the high demand of our
customers to enter new markets and aiming for cutting their
expenses, we opened a new office in the center of Kazakhstan
business capital – Almaty. This office is going to be the main
point for translation into such complex languages as Kazakh,
Kirgiz, Uzbek, Tadjik, Mongolian and other.
Today, the company has two working facilities: head office in
Tomsk, Russia with approximately 60 in-house employees
and branch office in Almaty, Kazakhstan with 8
in-house employees. There are also about 500 people located
around the world working for Palex to provide localization into
over 50 languages.
