Background
Palex Languages & Software is a leading Russian LSP headquartered in Tomsk. It was founded in 2002 by a team comprised of an engineer, a translator and a software localizer.
All three had been working as freelancers, but they recognized the potential for collaboration and decided to bring together their experience and professional backgrounds to provide their clients with quality services.
The main goal was to create a regional language vendor with strong QA process and professional project management specializing in Russian and other languages of the former U.S.S.R. It takes special care and expertise to translate languages like Kazakh, Georgian and Ukrainian. Even Russian translators can be stumped by unexpected problems. Terminology in these languages is developing and changing, and it can be difficult to find qualified translation resources in these markets.
We have been constantly improving our workflow, training our team and doing our best to provide our clients with quality, cost-effective services. That is appreciated by most of our clients and Palex has experienced a steady growth since its foundation.
In 2002, Palex signed an agreement with the Digital Printing Division of Samsung Electronics to become its main vendor in localization of software and documentation for Samsung printers.
By 2004, Palex had quadrupled in size, with five times the number of clients and a ten-fold increase in turnover. From that time Palex started to expand the number of supported languages, growing from a small regional vendor to a mid-sized multi-language vendor.
In 2008, recognizing our clients' need to enter new markets and aiming to cut their costs, we opened a new office in the center of Kazakhstan's business capital – Almaty. This office will be the main point for translation into such complex languages as Kazakh, Kirgiz, Uzbek, Tadjik, Mongolian, and others.
Today, the company has two working facilities: a head office in Tomsk, Russia with approximately 60 in-house employees and a branch office in Almaty, Kazakhstan with 9 in-house employees. We also have approximately 500 people around the world working with Palex to provide localization into over 50 languages.
